While we can’t always spend so much on renting studios and hiring professional photographers, we can always use alternatives when the inner model in us wants to come out once in a while. Because what’s better than having great photos at the comfort of your own homes? (YES! So much win!)
1. CHOOSE A BACKGROUND
Your background can be as simple or as dramatic as you want it to be. Since we’re doing this with mostly limited space, start by choosing a plain background or a bare wall you can glam up or play with.

2. HAIR AND MAKEUP
Hair and makeup plays a vital role in any photoshoot. Depending on your peg, hair and makeup is a must. Decide on the look you want to achieve. You can go crazy on this step. Wear those lippies you can’t sport in public! Or those crazy fancy lashes you’ve been wanting to try on!
Tip: If you’re not that good on the eye makeup, you can always put on a pair of falsies! For that extra smizing effect, use contact lenses! Put some lipstick and blush then you’re photoready!
3. LIGHTS
You dont need professional lights to get amazing photos. Be sure to shoot in the golden hours (6-9 am and 3-6pm). Or if the light is still not enough, hoard all light emitting appliance whatever you have at home. Alternative can be your lampshade or in my case, since I’m a makeup artist, i’ve got 3 makeup mirrors with light bulbs in them. I just soften them with Japanese paper to erase out any direct lightings that cause harsh shadows.
4. OPT FOR CANDID SHOTS
Not everyone can pull off a model fierce look or those tantalizing smizes. One app I recommend is the Fastcam app- which can take almost a thousand picture per minute! Yes! Not a typo! Or if you’re using an iPhone, you can use its burst feature. Have a tripod, or have someone hold your phone for you(human tripod hehe) set your burst feature then move like crazy! Laugh. Look away. Jump. Even dance. Then just choose later on.

5. EDITING
After all the photoshoot craziness, editing for me is the best part. Because here’s the part where I can see all the results.’m not so techie so i dont know how to edit using adobe or other advanced editing softwares.
Have fun! Tag me on your at home photoshoots! I’d love to see them:)
Enjoy!
